Anything sold from about 2018 onward, broadly: iPhone XS and later, Galaxy S20 and later, Pixel 3 and later, plus most current mid-range Android phones. It also needs to be carrier-unlocked — our setup guides show exactly where to check that on your model.

At home over Wi-Fi, a day or two out. Installing early costs nothing — the clock only starts once the eSIM makes its first connection to a network inside Indonesia, so there's no reason to leave it until you're fighting for airport Wi-Fi.

You do. The eSIM is data-only, so your number, your SMS codes and your messaging apps all keep running on your home SIM — just point mobile data at the eSIM and leave everything else untouched.

It runs on a major Indonesian network: 4G/LTE where you are likely to be, and 5G where the network offers it. Enough for maps, video calls, uploading the drone footage, and working from a laptop over the hotspot when the café Wi-Fi gives up.

You don't need to. Both SIMs sit in the phone together — the only setting worth checking is which line carries mobile data. Send that to the eSIM and your home SIM never has to roam.

From inside the app. A top-up drops straight onto the eSIM that's already installed, so there's no second QR code to hunt down and nothing to reinstall.

Tethering comes standard. One plan can carry a laptop for a work call, a tablet for the flight home, and whoever you're traveling with.

You do for the download itself, which is exactly why it belongs at home over Wi-Fi rather than at the gate. After that it just sits there and switches on by itself once you land.

Plans are data-only: they carry internet, not a phone line, so ordinary calls and SMS stay on your home SIM. Calls over the internet — WhatsApp, FaceTime, Telegram and the rest — run on the eSIM's data exactly as they do at home.

Anywhere from three days to a full month — each plan lists its own validity before you buy it. The countdown begins the moment the eSIM first connects inside Indonesia, not on the day you paid for it, so buying ahead never wastes days.

Yes — and this is worth knowing before you plan the trip: it is an Indonesia-wide plan, so Jakarta, Lombok, the Gili Islands, Nusa Penida and the rest of the country are covered on the same eSIM. It does not cover other countries; we sell separate plans for a Singapore or Bangkok stopover.

Order here and Stripe takes the payment on its own hosted page, so your card number never passes through us; order in the app and it goes through the App Store or Google Play. And if a compatible phone still won't install or activate the eSIM, message support inside the app and we'll get it working.

For most trips, yes. You skip the arrivals queue and the passport registration a local SIM requires, you know the price before you travel, and you are online at the taxi pickup rather than an hour later. Your own SIM also never leaves the phone.
